Four Dead in Five Seconds Gunfight
The whole ordeal began when the Manning Brothers(The enemies of Dallas Stoudenmire) stole a herd of 30 cattle in Mexico and brought them back to Texas to sell for a proffit. When Texas Ranger Ed Finch and two farmhands from Mexico by the last names of Sanchez and Jarique investigated, the two farm hands were killed. This caused a group of more than 75 Mexican men to cross the Rio Grande to investigate the disappearance of the two men. The investigation took the investigators to the ranch of John Hale, where the bodies of the Mexican farm hands were found. The murderers were never found and there was not enough proof against John Hale. After the El Paso Court held an inquest into the deaths of the two men, Gus Krempkau, the head investigator, went next door to Keating's Saloon. There, a confrontation erupted between Gus and the former Marshal, George Campell. George was a good friend of John Hale. John Hale himself was also in the saloon. He was heavily intoxicated, unarmed, and upset with Gus Krempkau for being part of the investigation. All of a sudden, John pulled out one of George Campell's pistols and shot Gus, who fell mortally wounded against the door. Realizinfg what he did, John Hale ran behind a post in front of the saloon when Marshal Dallas Stoudenmire appeared with his two pistols raised. Stoudenmire fired a shot, but it went rouge and killed a Mexican bystander that was buying peanuts. When Hale peaked out from behind the post, he was shot and killed by Stoudenmire. George Campell exited the saloon as John Hale was killed and yelled "Gentlemen, this is not my fight!" However, the wounded Krempkau disagreed and shot George in the wrist and toe. Dallas Stoudenmire then shot three bullets into Campell's stomach, which finally killed him. In five seconds, four men were dead.
